It was almost depressing. Two pairs of Lono Flow at home, one big love story, a great honeymoon behind us, and it suddenly felt like it’s almost over. Could this really be the end of it? But this sulky mood was not supposed to linger for too long. A couple of days into my not-enough-Lono-in-my-life melancholia I woke up to an email. I couldn’t believe it! Lono asked me to review another pair! Yay! To say that I was ecstatic would be an understatement. So, in April I fell hard for Lono WILD in Sri Lanka. It was amazing! Ben … I mean… Lono, I love you!

I also took Lono WILD on a short trip to Jeju Island in May. Yes, I fell hard for Lono WILD in Jeju too! And I thought I would bring you an honest review from both destinations as a combo. But I severely underestimated Jeju, especially in terms of its size and unbelievably diverse offer of outdoor adventures.
Clearly, combo wouldn’t do Jeju nor Lono WILD justice.
So, treat my falling hard for Lono WILD in Sri Lanka as a juicy taster and a preview of even juicier Part 2! Honestly, Lono WILD made my trip to Jeju so amazing and unforgettable that it deserves a special post!

Oh, the decisions and choices!
When Ben offered Lono WILD for review to me, I was over the moon. I already said that. But choosing between mustard and grey was a challenge. I’m typically for the grey. My wardrobe features a lot of it, so it seemed that this colour would be more versatile. But I thought since I already have grey in my arsenal, I should try a more vivid colour. So, I went for Lono Wild mustard this time and I am glad I did. It truly rejuvenated my outdoor style and gave it a new spark!
Initial doubts
First things first, let’s get something very important out of the way. So far in my life, 99% of experiences with new shoes have always made it crystal clear that it is never, I mean never ever, under any circumstances and without any exception, a good idea to take brand new shoes to a full-mode operation, let alone on a trip. There is absolutely no way I would ever do that! I mean ever (well, I guess by now you get my point). So, I was thinking really hard:
Should I make an exception and risk it with Lono WILD?
Going to Sri Lanka for the first time and given my past failed attempts to plan a visit to the country, I certainly didn’t want to jeopardise my comfort. The idea of dealing with blisters and scratches and whatnot on my long haul flights and in the humid heat clearly wasn’t on the menu.
Truly, I was on the fence.
I lifted my pair of Lono WILD from the box, hugged them on my chest and with eyes closed quickly replayed all the wonderful days I have so far had with this amazing brand. I thought to myself:
Lono, you have so far been a bliss.
So despite all the warnings in my head, I decided to give Lono the benefit of the doubt. Let’s go to Sri Lanka, you and I!
Testing the waters with Lono WILD
And while I didn’t travel extensively in Sri Lanka (this part is yet to come), I certainly tested the shoes in difficult conditions. Heat, humidity, slippery rocks, sandy beaches, dusty roads, long city walks, travel on planes, trains and buses. We wore Lono WILD absolutely everywhere we went. Verdict?
Rain or shine,
Lono WILD is divine.
I encountered zero issues and enjoyed them from inside out. Whether it’s walking through chaotic Colombo and navigating its rather spread-all-over nature, commuting, or enjoying the beach vibe, Lono WILD did not let me down! No scratches encountered, no pain or discomfort. It was a smooth sailing door-to-door.
The plasters I packed just to be on the safe side proved totally unnecessary and came home in its initial package. Sealed and unused. So, the cloud nine story continues. Lono WILD hugged my feet effortlessly brining the ultimate comfort
any traveller, outdoor enthusiast or free movement lover will always appreciate.

Before I delve into Lono WILD features as the ultimate outdoor companion, I must mention that as of now I will take Lono WILD on absolutely every trip I make. I promise. It’s a no-brainer. Firstly, Lono WILD provides unbeatable comfort for your journey. This is because it has the amazing skill of adapting to your feet.
Airport Lono WILD excitement is real!
You know how legs and feet like to get swollen on flights? Especially if you spend more than several hours up in the air or have connecting flights, you may end up with legs double your usual size. In fact, swelling can occur on any type of transport from plane to bus or train. At least, that sometimes happens to me. It is therefore crucial to have suitable footwear. This means shoes that will not only make you comfortable, but will also provide the support you need and carry you to your destination worry and pain free.
LONO WILD did exactly that!
These shoes offer adequate support and yet provide enough buffer space for unrestrained movement. They truly adapt to your feet. As for me, LONO WILD has become not only my outdoor adventure friend but also the ultimate travel buddy. Flights, trains, buses, this is now my go-to shoe. FOREVER.

Two: Lono WILD the perfect outdoor buddy!
Most Lono models so far have been designed for indoor and dry conditions (though I already said that I wear mine absolutely everywhere, even in rainy weather. But it can get slippery on some surfaces, so beware). In this sense, however, Lono WILD outdoes all its previous models as it is meant to be an exclusively outdoor type.
And, it definitely is!
You can immediately recognise it from the robust yet elegant design that not only protects your feet but also ensures that any kind of terrain can be conquered with this model!
Three: Amazing from inside out
The secret of Lono WILD lies in its smart and precise design. Every inch of the shoe has been mindfully crafted to cater even to the most difficult conditions. The sole is non-slippery and can handle practically any weather conditions.
Of course, not too extreme such as ice or snow but this is not an extreme outdoor model anyway. The insole provides the softness you need when being active throughout the day. It feels like a blanket. The especially softened rim ensures that you will return home with no blisters or scratches, ever! You can modify the tightness of the fit with the shoelaces easily. I know I have to write a separate post but from long drives, hikes, or steep climbs to waterfalls, Lono WILD proved indispensable. If you can ever find a shoe that fits so perfectly not only your feet but also your plans, it’s worth every penny. If you purchase Lono WILD, you can rest assured that these shoes will carry you everywhere safely and comfortably.
Five: All-weather buddy
Scorching heat or incessant downpour? No problem! Lono WILD has got your back. This is another aspect I awfully appreciate. Especially in Jeju where the weather was unpredictable and included all from heat, humidity, wind, and rain, Lono WILD withstood it all with grace. (As mentioned, I need to leave it for part 2 so be patient, my dear readers) But even in Sri Lanka Lono WILD’s all-weather concept was absolutely indispensable. While it didn’t rain, it came in handy that
Lono WILD are water resistant.
I certainly welcomed that when I soaked them multiple times on my Lono WILD beach exploration. As a beach addict, I found my long walks on the shore unforgettable. The best part is that when you wash Lono WILD with water and let them dry in the sun, they will be like new again! Same shape, same quality, same softness and comfort. Nothing changes there!

By now you surely understand my love story with Lono continues and is not going anywhere any time soon. I am relieved to know that as of now there is no need to search the perfect versatile shoe, as I have already found it.
